Frequently Asked Questions

Weddings, Engagements, Events & Portraits

How do we reserve you for our requested date?

A. I make this quite easy. The two things needed to reserve your date are the signed agreement and a 20% deposit. Both can be done online. Once we have confirmed availability and discussed further details, I'll send you the agreement along with an invoice. Payment can be made with a check, PayPal and Venmo. If you would choose to pay with a credit card, I can send an invoice via PayPal and you can input your card information. Once those two things are done, I will put it on my calendar and that date will be yours.

How far in advance should I book you?

A. As soon as you have a date in mind! For weddings, I've typically scheduled dates at least a year in advance but definitely contact me even if you're planning your wedding, event, portrait session or anything else within a shorter time frame. It is possible that I may have your date available.

My venue requires liability insurance from my photographer. Are you able to provide that?

A. Absolutely! I can provide proof of insurance to your venue.

Can I give you a list of shots I want taken?

A. I suggest to all my clients to create a list of family/group shots, since you would know best which friends and family groupings you would like. If you're not sure what that list would be, I suggest doing group shots with your immediate family (including grandparents) and any other special aunts/uncles/cousins. I recommend taking those photos shortly after the ceremony (or before if you're doing a first look). Other than group photos, I urge you to trust me to use my unique style to capture your moments as they unfold. Of course, if you have any special traditions or unusual touches that you would like me to capture, definitely let me know before the big day.

Do you have a back-up plan in case you're unable to make the event?

A. I am friends with many creative professionals in that we can depend on one another should an emergency arise.

When can we expect to have our photos?

A. Most photographers will return your digital proofs within a month, two months, sometimes three months or longer. I find this to be outrageous! I know you are excited to order prints, photo albums, and just to generally reminisce on your special event. I guarantee that I'll provide your digital proofs within 15 business days or else I will reward you with a $100 VISA gift card for the inconvenience.

How do we receive our pictures?

A. You will receive your photos via a downloadable private online gallery. This is something I have been doing since day one when I started out five years ago. It's important for my clients to have those files and the ability to use, print and share them however they'd like. The gallery will be delivered to the email address you provided when you initially reached out. Your online gallery will be easily accessible on any computer, mobile device or tablet. One button click and you'll start downloading all images. You can even order prints directly from the gallery at affordable prices from printing facilities only available to professional photographers. Lastly, you can send that link to all your friends and family so they too can enjoy the photos and download the ones they like of themselves.

I DO NOT DELIVER RAW FILES. Images will be available for download for a maximum of 30 days; requests for downloads after 30 days may incur additional costs, or may not be available at all. PLEASE SAVE YOUR IMAGES AFTER DELIVERY.

Do I have to order prints through you?

A. Not at all. You can download and order your prints wherever you would like. However, If you like things that are convenient and easy you'll love the print order system built directly into the gallery. Prices are extremely affordable and the prints are printed at an amazing production facility that works solely with professional photographers and delivers directly to your home in just a few days. So if you want to do it yourself you can, but if you like to do things easily, I've made that possible for you as well.

How do we order prints?

A. You can order prints directly through the private online photo gallery we provide you via email once post-production of your photos are complete. Although you can download your photos and print elsewhere, we highly suggest you order through our lab, as I can ensure the prints go through a rigorous quality control process. I cannot guarantee the quality of any prints that are not created through my partnered lab.

You took photos for me 6 months ago. Can you resend those images?

A. Possibly. I'm sorry but I am NOT an image storage service. I deliver images and hold them online for 30 days. After that, image storage is your responsibility. If I still have the images, there will be a charge to repost them.

How do I order albums?

A. The albums I order for your are customizable. You let me know what type and size album you would like. I then ask you to choose your favorite photos from your gallery. I design the album for you with your favorite photos. All albums include ONE free revision. Once the design is accepted, it will go into processing and the album will be delivered directly to your home.

How much notice is required to schedule my session?

A. Ideally, for day time photo shoots, 4 - 5 days notice should be provided in order to reserve your preferred date and time. I can occasionally accommodate last minute requests, but it is best not to rely on that. Twilight photo shoots are very popular and tend to fill up quickly. The more notice you can provide the better.

How do we reserve you for a shoot?

Do you do any staging?

A. Nope. Photography and floor plans only. If a property is not staged when I arrive to the property, I will either shoot as it is or return at a later date depending on the Agent’s call. Rescheduled shoots may invoke a reschedule fee.

What is your reschedule and cancellation policy?

A. I understand in this fast-paced world and things happen. I would hope that you would give me notice as soon as you were made aware of a problem. If a cancellation needs to be made less then 24 hours from our scheduled appointment time, I will need to charge a $75 dollar cancellation/reschedule fee.

Please note that it is expected for the property to be photo-ready for the time you set your appointment for. If I must wait longer than 30 minutes after that set time at a site for it to be prepared (or to be let into the property), I add a 50% fee; if I must wait an hour or longer, or if the shoot is entirely cancelled, a 100% fee will be assessed. I reserve the exclusive right to terminate the shoot after one hour or more of waiting, at my sole discretion. Late or cancel/termination fees must be paid in full before new date will be scheduled.

I cannot control the weather. If the weather is inclement, I will continue with all indoor shooting, and reschedule exteriors for the next clear day I am available. There is no penalty for weather delays.

You shot my home 3 months ago. Can you resend those images?

A. Possibly. I'm sorry but I am NOT an image storage service. I deliver images and hold them online for 30 days. After that, image storage is your responsibility. If I still have the images, there will be a charge to repost them.

How can I help prepare my client's (or my) home for a real estate photo shoot?

A. The neater and cleaner your home is, the better it will photograph. Always start with a good cleaning. But to help homeowners and realtors prepare for the real estate photography I have prepared a check list of things you can do to really make the home photo ready. Read the home prep check list online or download a PDF copy here.

What is your availability?

A. Photo shoots are scheduled week days from 10 am through Twilight (note, the exact time of twilight varies through the year). Photo shoot appointments are not available on the weekends or holidays. If you have a special request outside of those hours please send me a message so I can see if I can accommodate your needs.

How will the images be delivered?

A. Delivery is via a private online gallery to the email address(es) you provide. All images will be delivered in this format: JPG images MLS size 2000×1600; additional sizes & crops available on request. I DO NOT DELIVER RAW FILES. Images will be available for download for a maximum of 30 days; requests for downloads after 30 days may incur additional costs, or may not be available at all. PLEASE SAVE YOUR IMAGES AFTER DELIVERY. This delivery and notice via e-mail shall be deemed completion of this contract in full. A USB thumb drive can be provided for an additional fee.

Who owns the rights to the pictures you provide?

A. I do. I retain the copyrights for all photos as is standard practice in the photography industry. You ( the client) purchase a single use, non-transferable, non-exclusive image license. For real estate agents that image license is good for the duration of your listing and expires once the listing is sold, canceled or reassigned to another agent. For all others the license does not expire. This is a non-transferable license, meaning you, as the licensee, may not sell, give or loan the photos to any other party. You do have wide leverage to use them for your marketing and promotional needs however.

Can you also shoot me a quick head shot?

A. Yes, I can! I shoot great head shots and I am happy to do this for you... but not during a real estate shoot. Any photographs beyond the scope of real estate photography will not be shot while I am shooting a home. If you need a head shot, I would be happy to schedule a seperate date and time for it. I do not carry the necessary lighting equipment when shooting a home to also shoot portraits. Portraits start at $200/person. Groups of 5+ people are $75/person including editing of all photos.
